Master Company List

This is a list of all of the companies whose games are featured on this site. Because some of the categories can be confusing, a brief explanation of them are in order:

# Developed / # Published: the number of games a company developed or published that are honored on this site (i.e. not the total number of games in its career). You will notice that a vast majority of companies specialize in either developing, or publishing games. Companies that do both are typically big corporations that can afford to maintain both in-house development teams and marketing/distribution network. Please note that these two numbers are not mutually exclusive, so a game that is developed and published by the same company is counted in both columns.

Company Status:

• alive - The company is still in the gaming business. This includes companies that have been acquired by other companies, but retain its own brand (e.g. Sierra, Origin Systems)
• bought out - The company has been acquired by other (usually gaming) companies and has ceased to exist as an independent label (e.g. US Gold, Core Design)
• changed business - The company still exists, but is now no longer producing games (e.g. Omnitrends)
• changed name - The company has changed its name; the new name is listed as "related companies" (e.g. LucasFilm Games, ERE Informatique)
• defunct - The company has dissolved, went out of the gaming business

Rating: An average of user ratings for all the games a company developed. This gives a rough measure of how good a company is as a game developer (the number of games it published is excluded from this calculation).

Like most pages on this site, the list can be sorted in any order by clicking on the column name. You can therefore sort the list by rating, # of games developed, # of games published, and status, in addition to by country :)

Please note that the information on this page is not generated in real-time, but every 24 hours. So if you rate a company's game, don't expect the company's average rating to change immediately.
